The lively town of Arnhem is home-sweet-home to a large number of international students. Arnhem has a lot to offer; from fashion to history, from museums to pubs and from concert halls to nightclubs. When in Arnhem, you are also ‘in the middle of Europe’: in 60 minutes you travel comfortably by train to Amsterdam and in less than 7 hours you are in Paris, Munich, Berlin or London.
What makes Arnhem so special?
Arnhem is a large city in the eastern part of the Netherlands. It is the capital of the province of Gelderland and located on the bank of the Dutch Rhine. This advantageous position was the reason for the city's development, which was possibly as early as 893. Since then Arnhem has had a rich and eventful history. Its most well-known historical event was the Battle of Arnhem in the Second World War.
Arnhem is home to HAN University of Applied Sciences, ArtEZ University of the Arts and, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences: the most sustainably oriented university of applied sciences. These educational institutions work together so they can connect students from different domains (creative, green and entrepreneurial).
ArtEZ and a number of well-known labels and designers, such as G Sus, Humanoid, Viktor & Rolf, have transformed Arnhem into an oasis for those with a passion for fashion. The variety of pubs, restaurants and shops in combination with the historical environment is what makes Arnhem so special.
