If you study in Arnhem or the neighbouring Velp, you’ll have plenty of sports activities to choose from. Sports are the perfect way to give your health and social life a boost. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself sidled up to the gym’s bar enjoying a post-workout drink. ArtEZ, HAN and Van Hall Larenstein support dozens of sports initiatives throughout the city, meaning there’s always something active to do just around the corner. So there’s no excuse not to hit the gym for an hour or round up some fellow students for a game of football.

Elite sport in Arnhem
Arnhem is a frontrunner in the field of sports. We have the ultra-modern Gelredome stadium, home of the Vitesse football club, which hosts exciting matches on a weekly basis. We also have the Papendal sports centre for top-level sports. Nearly 400 elite athletes use its facilities every day, from BMXers and gymnasts to footballers and golfers.
If you’re more of a sports fan than an athlete, there’s also plenty to do. Go to a Vitessa football match with friends or see how elite athletes train at Papendal during a guided tour.
